"Only thing im holdin is Pain, You can borrow, a whole pocket of change,
For your sorrow, Lotta Kat'z busted, but they cant find the hop,
That hustlin game gotta stop, On the open road, now is not the time to flock"

John Milton: Y’know, boy, guilt is like a bag of fucking bricks: all you gotta do is set it down. Who are you carrying all those bricks for anyway? God? Is that it? God? Well, I’ll tell ya, lemme give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He’s a prankster. Think about it. He gives man instincts! He gives this extraordinary gift and then–what does he do? I swear–for his own amusement–his own private cosmic gag reel–he sets the rules in opposition. It’s the goof of all time! Look. But don’t touch! Touch. But don’t taste! Taste. Don’t swallow! [laughs] And while you’re jumping from one foot to the next, he’s laughing his sick fucking ass off!! He’s a tight ass, he’s a sadist, he’s an absentee landlord! Worship that? Never!

Kevin: Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven, is that it?

Milton: Why not? I’m here on the ground with my nose in it since the whole thing began! I’ve nurtured every sensation Man has been inspired to have! I cared about what he wanted and I never judged him. Why? Because I never rejected him. In spite of all his imperfections, I’m a fan of man! I’m a humanist.

little by little I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux

I think that in human evolution it has never been as necessary to have this substance LSD. It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be

  • CO2
In my opinion, this seems like a waste of time and effort. Rather than worrying about where to put all of this "bad" gas, it seems that implementing and regulating a tax on CO2 emissions would be effective. It would be too hard and tedious to design the tests/experiments to understand the long-term--even short-term--impact of storing this gas underground. My conscious is telling me that nothing good can result from this process (a seemingly hollow pocket filled with CO2). However, the immediate reduction in greenhouse gases would do swell at calming the general public's mind. I just feel that society and those behind these projects need to contemplate the "BIG PICTURE," especially given the controversy surrounding the potential for leakage.
This leads me to the second question concerning government funding for carbon dioxide and green energy projects. In my skewed opinion on the matter, I would certainly limit research grants for carbon dioxide storage--but would by no means cut the funding. The reason being that this is a process which is relatively new and, therefore, not much is known. Therefore, research should continue in the field, but should not become a "crutch" for the green movement and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Solar and wind energy are beneficial as well and would remain a high priority for grants. Although the main concern with these two processes surrounds the actual construction. Each individual component of the equipment needs to be manufactured from earth's resources; then transported from manufacturers to suppliers; and, finally, transported to the construction site to be built by machinery run off oil. All of these processes utilize oil and in turn produce carbon dioxide. And yes, in the long run the benefits (for both energy and emissions) may outweigh the initial carbon dioxide emissions. These are simply basic observations that must not be overlooked. The only thing that needs to be said about hybrid cars is that each tire consists of 7 gallons of oil--more or less.
My final thought is that our society/government is run off oil and other natural resources, which lead to an unfathomable volume of greenhouse gases. Instead of concerning ourselves with the technical processes of containing the gas, why not just promote a green movement that would produce the same results through the limitation of carbon dioxide emissions. Doesn't this make the most sense? Rather than continuing on the self-destructive path we are currently, and blatantly, on at the current moment. Final solution: limit emissions and plant more trees (do they not benefit from carbon dioxide?).
